SF Design Week Live Pod Guests, Details, and Discount Code

SF Design Week (SFDW) is among us and I’m happy to announce that Technically Speaking will be doing a live stream Monday-Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm PST. 

SFDW is an essential, week-long city-wide festival that showcases the unique intersection of ideas, design, business & entrepreneurism that makes the Bay Area the birthplace of the future. Now that it’s completely virtual is has a larger, international appeal providing unique access to exhibitions and conversations with the designers who are shaping the future — from architecture to fashion, product design to digital services, and everything in between.

Monday 6/7

Mercy Bell and Alyssa May Hart (Take C4re)

I have the founders of the TAKE C4RE a 30-day audio experience focused on wellness. We’ll go through their origin story, their focus on mental health, and how they took a unique approach to develop a virtual, asynchronous event. Their goal is to make ALL conversations on wellness more creative, inclusive, and intersectional and to build a community of like-minded humans (especially leaders at work!) that don’t want to make mental health or physical health just another hamsterwheel of perfectionism.

Maurice Cherry (Revision Path)

Maurice Cherry is the host and founder of the Revision Path podcast. His podcast is now over 400 episodes that showcase black designers from around the world and his work is featured in the Smithsonian National Museum of African History. Fun fact: he is the first podcast that I was ever featured on more than 5 years ago!

Julia Fernandez and Jacob Hernandez (LinkedIn)

Thursday will be a double feature! Julia is the student ambassador of SF Design Week co-founder of Students of UXD, and the personality behind Design Diaries, a YouTube channel documenting her experience getting into the field of UX. We’ll discuss the Hire Me campaign and how emerging designers can get involved in the program.

We’ll then follow up with Jacob Hernandez, Sr. Product Designer, at LinkedIn who will discuss the work he is doing on the equity team and the power of transformation. 

Friday 6/11

Mathew Barnes (Amazon)

We’ll wrap up the week with a design-inspired happy hour. Creative Director, Mathew Barnes, will talk about how his process and methods in design gains influence from two of his passions; art, and craft beer.
