This year has been a challenge, mentally, physically, and emotionally and these things don’t just stay at the door as we step into the new year. I hope that you take some time for reflection, plan more time off, and of course, stay in good health because none of this matters if you can’t be your best self.
I can’t thank you enough for your support along the way this past year. 2020 was one heck of a ride but I’m thankful for the growth. Here are a few things that stand out for me:
Launched the first ten episodes of the Technically Speaking podcast that has had over 1,500 downloads in 8 months.
Mentored over 60 designers globally through the Amazing Design People List
Shared my stories about design with over 30k readers on Medium and Substack
Organized and participated in webinars for aspiring designers
Presented for the first time at the Black is Tech conference and PixelUp South Africa.
Most importantly, I connected with people - some hopeful, some stressed out, and some uncertain about their future. One consistent thing is that the community had mobilized like never before to support and uplift each other and we need to continue to do so.
The road may be bumpy, but the future is bright, and we have to keep working towards building a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future that we can all envision ourselves thrive in.
I hope all can aspire to get out of our comfort zone a little bit in 2021 more to make this dream a reality.
In health,
- Harrison
