The new product design glossary
One of the biggest challenges for me when I pivoted into the UX industry was understanding the terminology, jargon, and when to use it. Once I got the hang of it, I realized some of these terms I had used in the past in many different environments and contexts, but they were somewhat familiar.
Looking back, I wish someone had let me in on that secret. Last year I released a PDF with more than 118 Product Design and UX terms. It was widely popular, resulting in over 800 downloads. It’s now accessible to everyone with no need to sign up. Check it out and spread the word. Any feedback is welcome as well.
Some stats
As we kick off the new season, there are some great stats:
Vivianne’s episode, which was released on January 3rd, hit a new record. The fastest episode to reach 200 downloads (15 days)
Tuesday’s launch with Steven Wakabayashi’s episode was the third largest single-day record of downloads, with 123.
January is on pace to be the highest month of downloads within the past 12 months. It’s currently on pace for over 1K downloads.
So great to see the momentum into the new year. Be on the look out for an early access of the next episode featuring Mindy Duong, Vice President of Design and UX at East West Bank on Patreon.
Webflow BTS on Patreon
One of the best things about building on the Webflow stack is how quickly I’ve been able to ramp up new experiences. Within the last two months, the whole site has been refactored from the group up, and in addition to hosting episodes, I’ve launched a new Resources page, Glossary, and Shop. I’ll provide walk-throughs on how to do it yourself exclusively to Patreon supporters. You can support and gain access for as little as $3 a month.
Some brief thoughts on ChatGPT
ChatGPT is still an interface. It will only be as good as the systems that feed into it.
While there are ton of possibilities ahead let’s not forget if systems are broken, it can and will amplify, accelerate, and exploit for the sake of convenience.
This can be applied to a feature, productivity acceleration, and social issues. Please keep this on mind 🙏🏿
Layoffs
Over the past half a year, this has been a challenging season for layoffs. I’ve gone ahead and opened some slots for mentorship sessions. While I can’t help with hiring, if you would like to take a step back to review your portfolio or evaluate your career goals, I’m more than happy to lend some time. Time slots and availability is limited and subject to change. Connect with me on ADPList.
